Born to Perform – The Meaning Behind Our Special Award

Every unforgettable performance deserves a special symbol.

For the Dance Unit season 2026, we wanted our Special Award to capture the feeling of dance itself — movement, passion, and the energy that makes a performance truly unforgettable.

From the very beginning, it was important to us that the award would not be just another trophy. Instead, we set out to create a piece that reflects what dance truly represents: emotion, dedication, artistic expression, and the courage to step onto the stage and share your talent.

Designing the Special Award was therefore a carefully developed creative process. The final form you see today is the result of multiple artistic stages, sketches, and design iterations. Each step focused on translating the energy and fluidity of dance into a visual form.

Instead of sharp lines or a classic trophy shape, the award features a soft, flowing, and dynamic design. Its movement-like structure is inspired by choreography itself — powerful, elegant, and full of life. The curves and rising lines symbolize expression, inner fire, and the unique moment when performance turns into emotion.

The concept behind the design is closely connected to the message that defines Dance Unit:

Born to Perform.

The flowing form represents a dancer in motion — not as a fixed figure, but as a feeling. It stands for creativity, ambition, and the passion that dancers bring to the stage.

This makes each Special Award not only a recognition of achievement, but also a symbol of artistic excellence and dedication.

At Dance Unit, the Special Award is presented to performances and dancers that stand out in a truly special way. It is awarded to entries that achieve more than 105 points, as well as to winners of titles such as Dancer of the Year and Choreography of the Year.

Because of its unique meaning and custom design, the Special Award holds a very special place within our events. It was created with the intention that dancers who receive it feel not only recognized for their results, but truly honored for their performance and artistic expression.

It celebrates those unforgettable moments that leave a lasting impression — moments of excellence, emotion, and true stage presence.

Reordering Awards

All Dance Unit awards can be reordered after the event. This allows dancers, teams, or studios to obtain additional trophies as a keepsake of their achievement.

Placement trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place can also be repurchased directly at the event by presenting the corresponding certificate. These trophies are usually available at the merchandise stand, making it easy to purchase an additional award on site.

Our Special Awards, however, are typically not available at the venue. Because of their unique design, they need to be ordered separately after the event.
