Created with and for dancers by listening to feedback from school directors, dancers and spectators. Accepting it and implementing it as far as possible. We want to create together with you and offer the dancers a competition with the best possible conditions. The entire Dance Unit Team has put its heart and soul into this project and addressed all sides in depth. The motto is hereby program: #ChanceToDANCE -

We are also planning an all-round event that will include the established Dance Unit Gala, new workshops (GO-MASTERS), Auditions and a dance brand fair.

Regional competitions for Germany: North, East, South and West

In response to requests from many participating schools, the idea came up to allow participants to make a "preliminary decision".
The positive aspects speak for themselves.

  • Shorter competition (max. 2 days)
  • Lower travel costs
  • Overnight accommodation costs would be eliminated for most
  • An additional opportunity to present the season's competition pieces
  • Qualification for the Dance Unit FINALS (achieving a certain number of points)
  • Additional photos and videos of the pieces

National competitions in Austria, Poland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, ...

We were very pleased about the many requests to offer our concept abroad as well. What could be better than an international exchange in dance!
Several countries are already planned for the coming season and others are being discussed for 2026. The entire team is overwhelmed by the popularity and positive feedback. We would like to say thank you and are very much looking forward to the coming years with you!

Online qualifications

From next season, it will be possible to apply online for the Dance Unit FINALS via the "Contest Pro" online registration portal.
Please note: this only applies to countries that do not currently have a national championship.
This way we can offer everyone else the opportunity to qualify for the FINALS.

AUDITIONS

We are excited to announce that some auditions will be organized for the participants during the FINALS in Oberhausen. More information will follow soon on our website. #staytuned

Location FINALS: Luise Albertz Halle, Oberhausen - Germany

After a successful feedback meeting with the CCO team in Oberhausen, we are delighted to be welcomed there once again. The Location proved to be ideal for all sides - shorter distances, more space in the changing rooms, warm-up/workshops area and a stage measuring 11x16 meters with just under 1100 spectators. In addition we will have fair in the basement area.

FINALS 4 days: 30.04.-03.05.2024

From Wednesday, April 30, to Saturday, May 3, 2025, the FINALS will take place in the well-known Luise Albertz Halle - Oberhausen.
We therefore decided to hold the event over the weekend of May 1st (public holiday). For many countries, May 2 is often a holiday too. You can find more information about the schedule HERE. (changes are possible)

One round, two rounds if there are many competitors

Depending on the number of competitors/pieces in a discipline and category, either one round (standard scenario) or two rounds (additional final round) will be danced:

  • One round is danced for all disciplines and categories with up to 20 starting numbers.
  • For all disciplines and categories with more than 20 starting numbers, there will be a second round/final round with the top 5-10 pieces.

New Age Devision 25 years and older

Due to the many requests, we have decided to include a separate adult category for dancers 25 years and older.

The age categories for Dance Unit competitions are as follows:

All age divisions can perform together in one entry.

  • MINIS: aged 5 to 8 years
  • KIDS: aged 9 to 11 years
  • JUNIORS: aged 12 to 15 years
  • SENIORS: aged 16 to 24 years
  • ADULTS: aged 25 and over

Cooperation with several schools possible!

Since our establishment in 2019  top priority has been to promote exchange and joint projects between all dancers at different levels; to learn from each other and broaden our horizons and, above all, to make lifelong friends.

Furthermore, students should be able to take classes in two different schools, e.g. ballet in "School A" and jazz or urban dance styles in "School B". It is important to us that no one has to choose which school to start at.

Dancers may compete a maximum of twice per discipline and category.

Dance Unit GALA

The additional evening for special choreographies - Saturday, 03rd May 2025, 8:15pm!

After the award ceremonies, the nominated entries will be read out. A final selection will be made on Saturday afternoon. The selection criteria have nothing to do with the ranking at the competition - it is more about the originality of the pieces: Having a particular recognition value is an advantage. On this evening, grants and special prizes will be awarded by a renowned and international jury from the dance scene.

Participation is possible from the KIDS age division.

Improvisation discipline

Improv for "Performing Arts" and "Street Arts"

After the last season, we decided to include the new discipline as a fixed part of the program! the feedback was huge!

The dancers are asked to leave their heart on the dance floor and push their creativity and diversity to the limit. Before entering the stage, the dancers do not know which song they will be dancing to. The music is not announced in advance. Dance Unit provides the music. All improv pieces have a length of 60 seconds per dancer. Improv is only possible from the KIDS age group.

Improv is divided into two categories:

"Performing Arts" - Contemporary, Modern Dance, Show Dance, Acro Dance, Classic Ballet, Lyrical Dance, Jazz Dance, Latin Dance, etc.

"Street Arts" - Hip Hop, Krump, Hypedance, Popping, Locking, House, Dancehall, Shuffle, Voguing, Tecktonic, Jumpstyle, Funk etc.

Fair entry fees:

The entry fee is charged per competition, per dancer and per entry.

The entry fees have been set at between €15 and €45. The exact details can be found in the dance guidelines in the appendix.

Media fee/registration fee

The registration fee per dancer is charged once per season and applies to all Dance Unit events.

The registration fee includes:

  • Photo/video fees for each dance (sent afterwards via e-mail as a link to the registered school)
  • Annual license per dancer per season
